About Gary

Gary Goldsmith’s “glorious” tennis career ended early; mainly due to what he calls “a lack of talent and a desire to actually earn money.”

British tennis’s loss became the staffing sector’s gain.

He was fired from his very first sales job before joining Dart Resourcing at 21. By 23 he was running three regions, managing 30 people and carrying a personal book of 30+ contractors.

He later sharpened his skills in search and enterprise environments before becoming the principal and leader of Contracts at Computer Futures.

Gary drove SThree’s multi-office rollout, international expansion, sat on the Exec Committee, and was part of the BarCap sale and subsequent IPO.

Gary was part of the founding team that built the fastest-growing staffing business in the world' the last recruitment company to achieve a full IPO, widely regarded as the mother-ship of modern recruitment.

Today, Gary is an award-winning Business Coach, NED and Mentor. With more than 10,000 hours of advisory work and over 100 client success stories.

Portfolio Career

Since leaving SThree PLC, Gary has split his time between:

Advising and rebuilding businesses,

Writing (with five books now in the wild)

Co-founding one of the first founder networks in the UK (RDLC),

And commenting loudly on anything worth debating.

The Person

In some circles he’s even considered a celebrity — for better or worse.

Gary is known for being forthright, visionary, disruptive and funny, with a heart of gold (not everyone agrees, but they’re wrong). He’s a father, husband, dog owner, Chelsea fan and tennis junkie — living between London and Ibiza.

His life mantra is simple: “Be owed a favour, not a fiver.”

If you need help, call him.

And yes, Emma (Emma@RDLCPirates.com) “owns him.”

After three decades as his EA, she would know.
